A Sterling Ranch man who was arrested on suspicion of murder allegedly strangled his mother in their home on Jan. 23.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dustin Neumann, 27, on Jan. 23 while responding to call of a possible death in the 9200 block of Merino Circle.
According to Neumann’s arrest affidavit, Neumann’s father, who lives in California, contacted police after receiving a phone call from Neumann. Neumann allegedly told his father he got into a fight with his mother and choked her.
When deputies arrived on scene, Neumann told them his mother was inside the home, leading them to find a deceased woman, the affidavit says. The Douglas County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s identification.
Neumann was arrested on the scene and is facing one charge of second-degree murder.
The affidavit alleges Neumann has a traumatic brain injury and mental health issues.
Neumann is being held on a $500,000 bond at the Douglas County Detention Facility.
