Letter - End bias against renters

Posted

I could not agree more with editor Thelma Grimes’ column “A Sad Reality” (July 28) in which she cited the unfortunate, negative perceptions of those who rent their homes in our community.

Many citizens cannot afford their own homes in Colorado. Many prefer to rent. Regardless, people need a place to live. Perhaps these complainers would prefer that people live on the street.

The height of elitist snobbery is the assumption that renters are riff-raff who lower our property values simply by existing. For all the talk of love, peace and acceptance, let’s walk the walk.
