I read the article in the June 30 issue of the Highlands Ranch Herald about the Wind Crest Pride Parade and don't believe it was a complete representation of Wind Crest nor Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Although there was one statement about residents and staff starting Wind Crest's Pride Parade, inclusion is one of our values and it feels like both the staff and resident D,I&B groups were excluded.

Jim and Jean Genasci are to be celebrated — they were instrumental in the D,I&B resident group. And they were real supporters of PFLAG (which is what a lot of the buttons on the sash and cowboy hat represented).

Daniela Vital Smith and members of the staff D,I&B committee, working with the resident D,I&B group obtained supplies, spent hours decorating, blowing up balloons, and painting signs which were hand drawn by resident artist Marianne Andres. Root beer floats at the end, provided by Dining, made a perfect finish.

Although this article does give Wind Crest credit for being supporters of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging by showing the Pride of its community through a parade to celebrate love and respect for all its diversity, it just didn't recognize all who worked to make this a success.
